Virgo Full Moon
Virgo here, reporting in about this Virgo Full Moon at 8’57° happening on Saturday 2/27/21. I get anxious about writing about my sun sign. Virgos have a hard time writing, talking, and bringing recognition to themselves. We are the sign of service to others, our emphasis lies on helping and supporting people and oftentimes forget our Self. If we start to bring the energy around to us, we tend to go straight to the ‘critique’ of ourselves and pick out what isn’t “perfect”. What I have learned over my 4 decades of life is that perfectionism does not exist and liberation is found in letting go of having to have things in order and under control all the time. “Good enough” is a favorite mantra of mine.
I have a stellium in Virgo, which basically means I have 3 or more planets in the same sign in the same house in my chart. That is a massive concentration of Virgo energy in my chart. I have Sun (Self), Mercury (Communication), Saturn (Hard work, discipline) and North Node (Future) all in Virgo in my 4th house of family. My husband and I have the same birthday, ten years apart (I know, weird). He has a Virgo Stellium in his 8th house of soul security and transformation; Sun (Self), Moon (Emotional Self), Jupiter (Opportunity), Uranus (Awakening), and Pluto (Transformation). If you know a little about astrology, you may be cringing. I know, it’s a lot of Virgo. So what exactly does Virgo rule and how will this full moon affect us? For my husband and I, it has been a lot of self reflection and honesty regarding work accomplishment versus playful rest.
Virgo’s symbol is portrayed as the “Virgin”. I find that to be a misconception. Virgin is considered pure, young, and angelic, but Virgo is not necessarily a young pure ethereal being . I consider it more to be the Servant or Nature Goddess with it’s connection using healing herbs as medicine, alternative wellness practices, and selfless acts towards community and individuals. It is an Earth sign and healing, just like her counterpart Pisces. Virgo rules the 6th house of wellness, alternative health treatments, tasks, and daily health and work routines. We can feel pressure to perform at this time, to get things in order, to perfect a process and or get serious about our health regime. I literally sat down and created a bullet point list of house chores that need to get done and a health routine I want get serious about. Virgos love lists.
Full moons allow us to focus in on things that aren’t ‘serving’ us anymore and in this case it could be along the lines of our health routine or work tasks. If you think about your health routine, what one healthy habit could you add to your day? Such as drinking lemon water upon waking, or taking a walk everyday. If you think about your daily work routine, what one unhealthy habit could you get rid of to free up mental health space? Such as not checking emails first thing in the morning. Replace it with journal writing about your dreams or make a gratitude list first thing. Change takes time and creating new habits takes time, consistency and discipline are KEY.
There is a balance axis between realistic Virgo and imaginative Pisces:
Practical vs Impractical
Physical Health vs Spiritual Health
Earthly Groundedness vs Watery Feeling
Work Tasks vs Restorative Relaxation
Perfectionism vs Acceptance
We can be much more sensitive physically, emotionally, and Spiritually during this time. We may experience a hard time sleeping and active dreams. Feeling full emotion, Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) need to find an emotional release valve - we tend to not want to express emotion and can hide it well. An emotional release valve is something that helps you process and express what you are feeling that is not necessarily tied to that exact event/situation/relationships - such as listening to music that makes you cry, a movie that moves you, talking to a friend you trust.
Virgo rules the intestines and nervous system. Guess what? They go hand in hand. Ever face a situation that you were really anxious about and have to rush to the bathroom? During Virgo moons, I love to emphasize breathing, I will have my yoga classes and workshops work on pranayama. It helps calm the physical body and settle the mental chatter. Focus on the rhythm, the sound, and the feeling of each breath. Twists in vinyasa class, pelvic tilts and wind relieving pose help a lot with digestion as well as encouraging your students to lay on their left side during or after savasana. The left side directly connects with the digestive movement of the intestines and encourages natural motion. Virgos discern what information is useful and which is not, just like intestines discern nutritional elementals what minerals/nutrients go where.
Virgo Full Moon ritual. With Venus in Pisces currently conjunct the Sun in Pisces, we are feeling a lot of self love, making good choices for ourselves, and giving ourselves permission to rest, even if there is a big to-do list (Virgo). Honoring the energy and theme of Virgo, carve out at least an hour for yourself to walk in nature, go outside and walk your neighborhood, or find a trail. Ask Spirit for answers you are seeking, literally just say them out loud at the beginning of your walk “what do I need to let go of to make room for something new in my day of work and wellness?” In the silence, listen deeply to your inner voice. Trust that you know.
When you get home, make your bullet point list for the tasks you want to accomplish and also one for the positive health habits you want to start. Place these somewhere you want can see them everyday as a reminder. Then jump into a project of cleaning and reorganizing your home altar, somewhere in your home, or even your email inbox. Picking one task will relieve the pressure and give you a sense of accomplishment and productivity! Virgos love that. In the evening, rest, tap into that Pisces Sun and Venus and play music, or watch a movie, draw, paint or dance - remember your emotional release valve - express and process.
In-Joy and Much Love from this Virgo,
Sirena
