Cancer New Moon

Let’s go there. Let’s go to the shadow side of this moon.

I know it is uncomfortable to sit in the shadowy darkness of a new moon, however, it we want to plant a new seed to nurture and grow, we have to.

Cancer is the archetype of the “Mother”. When we explore the shadow side of this archetype we explore what was lacking from a parent, because nurturance, caring, and love do not just come from the “mother”. We have to dive deep into what was lacking from parental archetypes. Get some paper, your journal, and make a list. I know, it hurts and is sad and difficult, but stick with me here. Grab the tissues, triggers will come up and crying is totally acceptable. That is one way we process to heal and since Cancer rules the stomach, we will be digesting a lot of emotion this weekend.

Make your list, what is on it, what was missing you really wish for your life? To get you started here are a few examples: compassion, bonding, empathy, connection, understanding, listening, nurturance, nourishment, love, patience, support, boundaries, respect, forgiveness, quality time, rules, role model. This does not necessarily mean your parent(s) was/were bad, they did the best they knew from what resources and tools they had available. It is time to move forward with forgiveness and addressing your needs and healing.

From this list, you will plant a new moon seed. What is most important to you that you feel was never there? Circle it or maybe a few things that you really want to connect with. You will “mother” yourself with these for the next 28 days until the Leo new moon and see how it changes your thought process and love for your SELF. Every morning, read this word and maybe at night journal how you connected with it to care of your heart and soul for that day. Bring loving awareness to it every day, if not every day, develop a routine or reminder to come back to it.

It takes practice and time!

Let’s take ‘patience’ for example, say your parents had no patience for you and this often comes up in your adult life. You are triggered by other’s not having patience with you and as a trauma response you shut down and can’t move forward. For the next 28 days, become observant of this reaction and repeat to your Self “I am patient with my Self and others. I will follow through at my own pace.”

Mother your Self with what YOU need, eliminating the expectation that someone else will fulfill this need for you.

The Cancer New Moon arrives today July 9 at 18° and is sextile Uranus, the planet of change, making this a surprisingly positive move towards emotional freedom and self-awareness. Revelations may come through in how you take care of your emotional needs and what makes you feel most at home. Look to the house this falls in, a renewal is coming.

We are mid-year and our intuition and sensitivity has heightened as we move out of a pandemic, starting our lives in a new way. Is it moving too quickly for you? Or maybe you are ready to dive back into a fully social life? As we take steps forward, give your Self the patience and support you need in order to make yourself feel fully at home in your body, mind, and emotion.

Reverse savasana is a lovely pose to connect with Cancer ruled parts of the body; chest, breasts, and stomach. In reverse, we lay on our stomachs, one side of our face on the floor or a pillow. Relax your heels to fall inwards with the toes pointing out to the sides of the mat. Allow the backs of your hands to lay on the floor, palms shining upwards. This position is good for stomach aches and provides soft pressure on the chest, feels like a hug.

I would hold you and give you a hug, if we were together.

Much love,

Sirena
